Takesato Housing Complex Economic Zone Project
Saitama,Japan/2017/Concept
This project proposes a conceptual plan to establish a new economic zone within the Takesato Housing Complex. In collaboration with a nearby university, the plan envisions a new building area that introduces shared facilities for residents—such as a communal dining hall, a public bath, and small rentable spaces where residents can run their own micro-businesses. These facilities are intended to be operated directly by the residents themselves, fostering a self-sustaining local economy.Alongside this, the architectural layout organizes every four housing units into one cluster. The residential units are designed with spatial flexibility, allowing residents to expand or adjust their living areas according to their business needs, particularly for those who wish to operate small shops or pursue entrepreneurial activities.
