This project involved developing the layout and operational plan for the 4th-floor studio space at Nagoya University of the Arts, designed by Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop. The studio is a vast, unified open space, and we explored multiple layout variations to determine how best to organize the different academic domains (departments), faculty areas, and other functional zones. We proposed an “Art Plaza” intersecting orthogonally with the “Art Street” on the ground floor—an element envisioned from the initial design phase. From this plaza, the spatial zones for each academic field organically expand outward.The numerous desks placed throughout the studio adopt a sharing system, similar to those used at Delft University of Technology. For classes and seminars, both faculty and students rent desks on a unit basis. 

山本理顕設計工場設計の名古屋造形大学4階スタジオ空間のレイアウト、運営計画。巨大な一室空間であるスタジオにどのように各領域(学部)のゾーン、教員スペースなどを配置していくかを様々なバリエーションを検討しながら作成した。1階アートストリートに直交するアートプラザを提案し、そこから有機的に各領域の空間が広がる。スタジオに配置された無数の机には、デルフト大学などでも採用しているシェアリング制度を導入しており、各授業やゼミの際には教員、学生たちは机単位をレンタルして使用する。偶発的にそこで行われる活動に出会い、参加することが可能となる。1階に設置されている市民に開かれたアートストリートと同様、学生たちが領域の垣根なく混ざり合うことを目指したアートプラザは新たな大学教育の姿を表している。
