A community development project in Iwate Town, Iwate District, Iwate Prefecture.

Although the town has a Shinkansen station, the number of passengers is extremely low, and a Future Center was planned in the central district to support community revitalization and human resource development. The former Tohoku Electric Power dormitory was renovated into a coworking space, and a new multipurpose “Entrance Building” was planned in front of it. The facility is designed so that users can easily start small businesses, functioning like a challenge shop.

For the Entrance Building, we proposed a unique timber structure in which layered volumes are sliced from the front and back to create intersecting linear members crossing from three directions.

​岩手県岩手郡岩手町におけるまちづくりプロジェクト。新幹線駅はあるものの乗降客数が極めて少ないこの町の中心市街地にまちづくり、人材育成を目的としたフューチャーセンターを計画。旧東北電力寮を改修しコワーキングスペースに、その前面にエントランス棟と称した多目的スペースを計画。

チャレンジショップのように利用者が気軽にビジネスを始められるような施設になっている。

エントランス棟では積層したボリュームを前後から面的に切り取ることで生み出された、線材が三方向から交差する独自の木組みを提案した。
